6 Things You Should Know About FastPass at Disney World

by Katiria Torres

The FastPass+ system, which is one of the biggest advantages of the MyMagic+ program, allows guests to reserve a time to experience FastPass+ attractions and entertainment in advance of your visit. This means that you can avoid waiting in long lines for some of the most popular attractions.  FastPass+ reservations can also be made the day of your visit by visiting one of the kiosks or by accessing the My Disney Experience app on a mobile device.

Here are the top six things that you should know about FastPass+.

1. FastPass+ is Free

FastPass+ is free to every guest who has paid for a ticket regardless of whether they are staying in a Disney resort or not. The only catch to using FastPass+ is that you have to have a ticket already purchased and linked to your My Disney Experience account to be able to schedule your FastPasses. So, if planning your vacation in advance, make sure you get your ticket numbers and link them to your account so you can start planning your FastPasses as soon as your booking window opens.

2. Plan in Advance

Depending on the tickets that you have and whether you are staying on Disney property, your booking window for FastPass+ can open as early as 60 days prior to your trip – this is true for guests that are staying on Disney property.  Annual pass holders and ticket holders NOT staying on Disney property can begin making their FastPass reservations 30 days prior to their arrival in the parks.

3. Additional FastPasses

After guests have used their initial allotment of three FastPasses, guests can continue getting one additional FastPass through the app. These FastPasses can be made at the same park or at a different park, but are subject to availability – this means that some of the more popular attractions may be out of FastPasses for the day, but you can still score some FastPasses for other attractions – our record is a total of 9 FastPasses during one day at the Magic Kingdom.

4. Not Every Attraction Has FastPass+

Be aware that not every attraction on Disney property utilizes FastPass+. Guests can easily determine what attractions do have FastPass+ by looking on the My Disney Experience app or by looking at any of the printed maps available in the parks.

5. FastPass+ For Shows

Even though most people think of FastPasses being for skipping the line at headliner attractions like Splash Mountain or Tower of Terror, guests can choose to use their FastPasses to get preferred seating at parades and other shows like Fantasmic and fireworks.

6. FastPass+ Can Be Modified

We have had experiences where we have a FastPass for an attraction like Splash Mountain only to get to the park and discover that since there is a breeze and is overcast that the line is only 15 minutes!  What we would recommend doing in this situation is modifying your Splash Mountain FastPass for another attraction that has a longer wait time.  Paying attention to the wait times is a great way to make sure you are getting the most out of your day at the park!

Skip the standby line for select attractions, shows, and Character Greetings. The best part? FastPass+ service is included in the price of theme park admission. What are you waiting for?
