Parental Goals

We all want our kids to grow up to be nicer, more caring, and more loving than we are. We hope to see them flourish into respectful, nurturing adults. This is why we spend so much time, money, and energy showing them what is right, and what is wrong. We spend countless hours saying, “no, we don’t punch our brother because he took you lego, we ask for it nicely.” This process goes on for hours, every day, until it clicks!

So, what if there was a trick to make our kids nicer, and more likely to help others? Well, a recent study shows that exposing our kids to Disney animations can do just that! “Analysis revealed that children exposed to the helping Disney character were more likely to help their friends than children who did not watch this.” –  &

Our kids are like sponges, they are constantly observing exactly what they see, and they will mimic whatever actions we expose them to. Disney has always been a platform which puts care, love, and friendship at the forefront. Therefore, our kids will mirror these actions in Disney movies, and nicer kids is always a good thing!

Video Is only Growing

“Evidence has revealed that prosocial behavior in children can also be enhanced by watching television.” We all know television isn’t going anywhere. If anything, it is going to continue to be a bigger part of our children’s lives. Maybe not the “traditional” idea of TV, but video medium are continuing to have a greater and larger impact on the way we are socializing the next generation. This being a fact of our times, we need to capitalize on the benefits of these mediums, and use them in a way that makes our next generation kinder, and more open to helping others.
