The Future of Epcot: What’s Coming to the Park?

by Jennifer Berry
It’s no news that Epcot is undergoing a major transformation that will run for the next couple of years. With new rides being added, the park’s expansion has been the talk of the town for a while now. Luckily, guests can now take a peek into the future of the park.

Last Tuesday, on the 37th anniversary of its opening, the park unveiled a new exhibit. The Epcot Experience, located inside the Odyssey Pavillion,  hosts models, renderings, and video previews of all the new goodies.

According to Melissa Valiquette, vice president of the park, “This experience center will really help our guests visualize that transformation, all while being immersed in the elements that have made Epcot Epcot.”

Once inside, a narrator guides guests through the exhibit. Surrounded by a 360º screen, visitors enjoy a teaser film. The exhibit uses projection mapping, a 3D display model, and exciting effects to tell the story of what’s to come. Don’t worry, though! No spoilers here.

The most notable attractions include a Moana-inspired ride, a new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster, and a Mary Poppins attraction.

Guests can also enjoy various photo opportunities around the theater. To celebrate the park’s past, present, and future, the park’s organizers have set up an array of 40 photographs that pay homage to previous rides, present attractions, and future sights.
