6 Tips to Enjoy The Best of “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge”

by Jennifer Berry
Disney World recently unveiled its biggest expansion to date. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened earlier this year to a lot of fan’s excitement. Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know to enjoy this world to the max.

Welcome to a galaxy far, far away! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is located within Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Set on planet Batuu, the new land has two main areas for park visitors to enjoy. Firs is the Black Spire Outpost – where you can find the Millenium Falcon. Second, you have the Resistance Forest. Both areas are pretty big, and with so much to see and do, it’s important that you’re prepared for the day.

1. Use the “Single-rider” Line

With only one main attraction open to date, the lines at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can be a little daunting. Nonetheless, there are options for people who don’t mind riding with strangers. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run gives you the option of standing in a special queue that lets you board quickly. There’s one catch, though: you’ll probably be assigned the role of “engineer”. This means you won’t get to pilot the ship.

2. Make Your Reservations In Advance

You can secure your spot at any of the park’s experiences up to 180 days before your visit. With so many visitors flocking to Batuu, it’s your best bet in order to guarantee a smooth ride and a great time.

The land will never be empty, but visiting on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday is your best bet at having more room to roam around freely.

3. Speak the Local Lingo

It’s always a great idea to learn a bit of the local lingo before visiting a new land. This should be no different. Although you’ll have no problems speaking your native tongue, learning Galactic Basic will get you far in Batuu. Use “Bright suns!” as a daytime greeting and “Rising moons!” in the nighttime. Plus, words like “hydrators” (water fountains) and “refreshers” (bathrooms) will also come in handy.

4. Dress For the Weather

Batuu is a hot planet, and there aren’t many places to find shade. Make sure you’re prepared to deal with the sun and carry plenty of protective clothing with you.

Keep in mind that only children 14 or under can dress in-character (sorry, adults!) and that masks aren’t allowed.

5. “These ARE the Droids You’re Looking For…”

The Droid Depot is the only place around the park where you’ll meet a real droid. For your fix, make sure you’ve booked in advance and that you have enough extra cash rolling around to build your own expensive pal ($99 + tax). Which brings us to…

6. Bring Extra $$$

With just one ride open to date, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is full of other opportunities to enjoy the land’s vibe. Visit Oga’s Cantina for a delicious on-theme drink and meal, build your own drone, or create a custom-made lightsaber. Just remember: all these experiences come with a price tag. You can use your own money to shop or top up a metal Spira (with a minimum of $100) that can be used anywhere in Batuu.

BONUS: Visit the Park When “Rise of the Resistance” Opens!

If you have planned your holiday for later this year, you’re in luck! The new Rise of the Resistance opens this December. Try to experience it before the park is too crowded, plan your park visit around this new ride, and remember to be there EARLY!
