4 Reasons to Visit Disney in December

by Jennifer Berry
The month of December is all about Christmas. It’s everywhere, with decorations, entertainment, merchandise, food and more. Here are 4 reasons why you should visit the Disney parks during this time of the year.

1. You won’t have to fight the crowds

In terms of crowds, one of the best-kept secrets is that the first two weeks of December are two of the slowest of the year. Well, this used to be the case. The “secret” has been revealed, not only thanks to local connoisseurs and members of Disney Vacation but also because of the fact that Disney itself offers more discounts to attract people and groups at this time of year.

The beginning of December is still a good month to visit for the low crowds. However, do not expect the park to be completely empty. As the Christmas date approaches, the crowds begin to grow slowly but surely until the park is filled with travelers and families who want to enjoy the special events of the month.

2. The cooler climate helps

Traveling to Orlando in December is to enjoy a very different climate than at other times of the year. Temperatures go down and sometimes it’s necessary to wear a good coat in order to avoid suffering from the cold. Normally you can expect sunny and warm days with nights that cool down much more. Remember to be prepared for anything!

3. There are tons of special events!

December is one of the best months to travel to Disney due to the number of special events you can enjoy. From fireworks shows to parades and special parties, Disney is filled with Christmas magic every year to bring joy and all guests. You can not miss Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party every night, much less the new Minnie show that opened this year.

In addition to this, each park has special celebrations that you can’t afford to miss either. Be sure to check each park’s schedules well to be aware of everything, this includes special opening and closing times, and to take note of any event you want to attend well in advance in order to plan your day around it.

4. The shops are filled with special souvenirs

It wouldn’t be a trip to Disney without buying a special souvenir to remember your experience for a lifetime, right? The gift shops of the parks constantly change products and take advantage of special dates – such as Christmas – to bring out new treats and never before seen merchandise. If you want to take home a very special souvenir, December is the ideal month to do it! From Christmas-themed mouse ears to very special t-shirts and sweaters, each store has something that is sure to steal your heart. Bust out your wallet and get ready to buy many things!
